APET Rigid Film
APET (amorphous polyethylene terephthalate) rigid film offers excellent clarity, good ductility, low temperature sensitivity and easy processing. It thermoforms at lower temperatures than PVC and contains no chlorine, making it a practical choice for medical device trays, diagnostic kit packaging, cosmetic and food-contact trays, and display packaging where transparency matters. Supplied in roll or cut-sheet form, it is printable and compatible with common sealing and sterilization processes.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about APET Rigid Film — specifications, usage, and compliance
APET forms at lower temperatures (90-130°C compared with 120-160°C for PVC) and contains no chlorine. Clarity is comparable, while moisture barrier is lower than PVC, so material selection should follow the stability data for the specific product.
APET is widely used for medical device trays and for blisters where the moisture barrier requirement allows. For highly moisture-sensitive formulations, PVC/PVDC or aluminum-based structures remain the appropriate choice.
APET is compatible with gamma irradiation and ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization. Autoclave steam sterilization is not recommended because of its relatively low heat deflection temperature.
200μm to 800μm is standard, with custom thicknesses available on request. Thickness tolerance is controlled to ±5% unless a tighter specification is agreed.
1,000 kg per specification is typical. Smaller trial quantities can be discussed for qualification and line-trial purposes.

Recyclable Blister Packaging Under the EU PPWR: What to Specify Now
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation pushes blister packs toward design-for-recycling, but recyclability depends on the material stream, the lidding and the collection scheme in each market. This note sets out how PVC, PVC/PVDC, PVC/APET laminates, APET and RPET sit against those requirements, and the specification points worth fixing before tooling and validation.
